[portfolio_slideshow] Because outreach and environmental education are two of our main focus areas at Pinoleville, we organized weekly event for PNAHS students and families dubbed “Harvest Fridays.” Each Friday we package the latest goods from our garden to distribute to Head Start families for free. Some weeks we’ve given away native seeds, plant starts like tomatoes, blueberries and more. Additionally, we also distribute our organice, non-GMO harvested vegetables and fruits to the families like kale, garlic, pumpkins, tomatoes and more.
Based on participation, it seems like “Harvest Fridays” have been a wild success. More than 200 plant starts have been distributed in 2014 with many more to come as harvest season hits full swing. Our “Harvest Fridays” are also open to the public. Come by Pinoleville Native American Head Start (500 Pinoleville Road) on Fridays from 11am – Noon to get a sample of our organic goods.
