With US EPA and FWS funding, the PPN has initiated an environmental education program focused initially on solid waste, traditional ecological knowledge and the preservation of resources. The goal is to raise awareness among the PPN youth, from pre-schoolers to high school seniors, of both the threats posed by poor management of waste, and the latest ideas on reducing, recycling and properly disposing of waste. We expect that the knowledge will change consumption and disposal habits, among both the youth and the adults in the PPN community while allowing educational opportunities focused on traditional and cultural practices to improve self identity and history of the PPN and its Citizens.
